Inkanyamba

Zulu and Xhosa (South Africa) · Southern Africa
A giant serpent-like water spirit said to dwell in rivers and waterfalls, especially at Howick Falls. It is believed to control storms, winds, and rainfall. Farmers traditionally appease Inkanyamba to ensure good harvests.
