Consent to Publish

1. Grant of Rights

The Author grants Oriire (Oriire Heritage Foundation) an exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, reproduce, edit, modify, translate, distribute, and promote the contribution in all formats and media now known or hereafter developed.

This includes, but is not limited to: print, online, newsletters, social media, archives, anthologies, and promotional materials (always with attribution to the Author).

Without limiting the above, the Grant of Rights includes use of the Author's name and contributor bio in editorial features, newsletters, social media, the print colophon, and other promotional contexts for as long as the contribution remains in the archive. The Author may withdraw promotional use consent in writing at any time. Future uses will respect the withdrawal. Archived contexts such as past newsletters or printed issues cannot be retroactively edited.

Unless explicitly agreed otherwise in writing, the Author may not republish or license the same contribution elsewhere.

2. Attribution

Oriire will provide clear credit to the Author (or approved pseudonym).

3. Warranties

The Author warrants that:

• They are the sole owner of the work and hold all rights necessary to grant this license.
• The contribution does not infringe on copyright, moral rights, or other third-party rights.
• The contribution does not contain defamatory, obscene, or otherwise unlawful material.
• Where copyrighted material or quotations are included, proper permissions or references have been obtained.
• Any co-author(s) are aware of and have consented to publication.

4. Compensation and Tax Responsibility

Where Oriire offers payment or honoraria for accepted contributions, the Author acknowledges that they are an independent contributor and not an employee of Oriire.

The Author is solely responsible for declaring and paying any taxes, levies, or statutory contributions arising from payments received from Oriire in their jurisdiction. Oriire shall not be responsible for withholding or remitting any taxes on behalf of the Author unless required by law.

5. Editorial Rights

Oriire reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity, style, and length, while maintaining the substance of the work. Oriire also reserves the right to decline publication at its discretion.

6. Reversion of Rights

Where Oriire declines to publish a contribution, the licence granted in Section 1 lapses and all rights in the work revert to the Author on the date the decision is communicated. The Author is then free to publish or license the work elsewhere, and no further permission from Oriire is required.

Where a contribution remains unpublished twelve months after submission and no decision has been communicated, the licence lapses on the same terms.

This applies to competition entries in the same way it applies to other submissions.
