Writing Contest

For the month of June, 2023, Oriire is going to be accepting submissions for its second Writing Contest. Submissions will be accepted for two main categories:

• History
• Mythology

We are accepting content in the following formats:

• Articles

• Essays

Oriire's Writing Contest awards writers from all over Africa an opportunity to tell stories about their culture and to showcase their knowledge about the African Continent in compelling and boldly imaginative ways.

Three winners will be selected, one from each category. Each will receive a cash prize of N50,000 each and get their entries published on our website.

The deadline for submissions is June 31st, 2023 and winners will be selected by July 31st, 2023.

The word count should not exceed 2,000 words.

Entry criteria:

• You must reside in a country within Africa.
• You must be an Oriire subscriber (Subscribe)
• You must be following Oriire on 2 or more social media platforms i.e. Instagram (Oriire_Africa), Facebook (Oriire), Twitter (Oriire_Africa), Youtube (Oriire)

Submission Guidelines:

• Your full name and email must be included (While your work can be published under an alias, your full name must still be included in your submission)
• The content must be in relation to African History or Mythology
• Any tribes or cultures featured must be clearly named
• Your content must be entirely your own work and not plagiarised
• Where other work is referenced, it must be attributed to the right sources.
